So I am on conroe this a.m. hiding from the NE @20 winds and in a small cove of 8-10 boatdocks. I am fishing the first dock TM down anf a guy motors in i dock ahead of me and drops the TM and starts fljpping.....no big deal, not my lake, but i raised an eyebrow.....i fished behind him no big deal but I wouldnt do it.

Later at the dam, literally 1 other boat fishing ..... i am TM down and rigging....a guy pulls up no more than 30 yds from me, drops the tm, and starts throwing a 6xd not 30 yds in front of my boat.

Again not a big deal, but I wouldnt do it.....

So how close is too close?

In that particular situation that would have been enough for me to either say something or fish even closer to him just in order to get the hypocritical response from the guy. I�ve recently had 2 people be obviously upset with me fishing near them. BUT, it was a pocket that they don�t own and I either went well passed them by hundreds of yards or stayed well away from the by hundreds of yards.

If I see someone trying to undercut me and fish my path I am obviously taking, I normally amp my trolling motor way up and get there before them to make a point. Whenever I am in that situation I tend to fish the opposite bank or cut behind the person and fish the area they just passed.

Had a .22 shot ricochet off the water 15 feet from my boat one day fishing around docked house boats. I don't think there was anybody in the area fishing...

To me if I can hit the guy with a long cast (40 yards) then he is too close. I would never pull up any closer than that unless I knew the angler.

If you get inside 30 yards or pull in front of me inside 50 you are going to hear about it from me... it's got to stop! I would NEVER do that.... I will fish behind you non stop, but never would I crowd you or cut you off

anybody that cuts you off that close is an idiot and needs to be taught a lesson .
Best lesson I heard was from a friend , this guy cuts him off twice , claimed he was in a club tournament and needed to find " better" fish . After the second time , this friend decides to turn on the big motor and circle him everywhere he put down the TM . Needless to say the tourney guy didn't boat any more fish and learned his lesson ----just wish I had been there

I fished salt for years and the stuff that happens in the galveston bay complex has prepared me for the worst of it......thanks for the input.
