I'd like to start catching a few crappie to keep now and then. In the past, as a kid we always just used minnows, I'd rather stick to artificial lures. I fish from a kayak and would rather not haul around a live well so I can have room for all by bass gear. I normally fish Conroe or Somerville.

I have a $200 visa card I waste on more fishing gear. What sort of lures/jigs and colors should I get? I have room on my kayak for probably 2 more 3600 size boxes. I'd also like to pick up another light/ultralight spinning rod and reel but can figure that one out on my own.

any thing white/chartruse, dark/chartruse, sausage gravy, c r special. Get some of his jigs in 1/16 and 1/18.

He is a premier guide, https://fishingfortworth.com, and has one of the toughest most sucessful baits available.

Good luck

Go buy some of Lane's baits and jig heads. It'll cost a lot less than $200 since they last so long.

I love them Thermocline baits...and his slogan...helping you catch more and bigger fish, is spot on. Laners baits are always in my boat, tacklebox, and waders right along side the Thermocline, and see plenty of action. Crazy Anglers are in there also, and sometimes thats all they want to bite, so I give them the nod...I seldom buy store bought bait anymore...just dont need to, these the products are just that good...

I have always been partial to live minnows or hand tied jigs. But have been using ATX lures lately with a lot of success. Give them a try! https://atxlures.com

Constant pursuit and crazy angler slab bandits are.my top 2 go to baits lane has some great jigs super tough and can take a beating, just go with these 2 and your set get a G-rod or a B&M or Bonehead rod with a shimano or Pfluegel reel.

The Crappie thump is an amazing feeling
