pretty tuff the 5 days "before" bass champs .... 6 guys "with" the 3 of the best local guides & the same kind of fish as caught in BASS CHAMPS for all 5 days of fishing the guides don't understand what is going on right now BUT with the numbers of small fish the next 2 years should be back to great fishing. if you are going to drive for 8 hours ... go to Falcon. if you just want to fish Amistad, have never been & 1.5-2# bass is OK, then by all means go on to Amistad. Beautiful lake, great views, nice town

I haven't been to Amistad since this past December. All last year I always managed to catch quantity over quality. Hopefully the water levels won't drop dramatically in the next year or two and we should see some decent sized fish appearing again. Some people blame the drought from a few years ago but the conditions on my lake say otherwise.

Depends on what you mean by "a lot". !!! We fished more rock & lay downs than we did grass, with those guides for 5 days Not as much grass as Athens, Rayburn or TB But more than other lakes

Only thing to save amistad is water and more of it There's plenty of water in that lake, decent one day, tough the next five.

My buddy and I just got back from there a week ago. We got there on a day that was 90 degrees and glass. A cold front blew in and it was in the high 60s - low 70s the next four days with 15-20mph winds. The last day it creeped back up to 80. Needless to say we caught fish, and lots of them, everyday. The wind dictates what you can down there a lot of times, so we had to find 3 or 4 different patterns throughout our trip. We caught roughly 40 fish each day with the largest a little under 8lbs. Great lake to catch a bunch of fish right now.
