Super nice Tilapia. You are right...the bite keeps getting better each trip. I assume from your cap that u r an Astros fan. Can't wait for this season to begin. I got to go to game 4 of the world series last fall, so I can scratch that off my bucket list. Wasn't sure the Astros would be world champions in my lifetime. BTW...We got 2.5 inches of rain last night in New Braunfels...

Thanks Leo,Yesenia, and Vogey for the replies. Leo/Yesenia: Always love fishing in God's Country! Vogey: I got 2.25" at my house. We needed it! Hope this spring is a wet one. I have always been a HUGE Astros fan! I was a fan way back in the early 70's. Watched one World Series game that the Astros lost against the White Sox. Matter of fact they were swept. It made my year when they won the Series against the Dodgers! This year should be a good one for them also! Go Stros!

When I was a kid, I remember my dad taking me to see them when they were the Colt 45s. It was before the Astrodome, and the mosquitos at that outdoor ballpark were huge. Yes...they should have another great year...

Yes...they should have another great year... I have taken both of my boys to many of Astro's games. Both at the Astrodome and at Minute Made Ball Park. I have a ton of "Lifetime Memories"! Going to try to take in a few games this season at Minute Made! Looking forward to a GREAT year!

Wow. I finally got to see the Canyon. The water reminded me of Montana Trout streams, especially with the 20 Mph winds. Kind of difficult with a 2 Wt. glass rod. But I just love that 2 Wt. so much that I couldn't bring myself to get my 4 Wt. out and strung up. My first road trip but hopefully not my last. Beautiful country and with Banker showing the way, it was a most memorable trip.

Nice post Chuck and Catyakker! Was going to kayak/fish the Canyon this month but work changed the plans! Looks like late summer early fall. When will be the fish start getting real active in the Canyon? Also have you fished the Sabinal this year? Catyakker: What type of flies were you using?

I was mostly using a yellow or black British Tadpole fly in size 14. Basically a small Wooly Bugger without the hackle. I also used a 1" Whacky Worm in light brown tied on a size 14 hook. The rubber worm is a leg off of a Puffer Worm or Light Up animal found in the toy dept. of Dollar General. I can make several hundred fly rod worms for $1.00.
