Changing to one of these soon. Pros and cons? I was sold on the Ultrex but now I am leaning towards the Ulterra. I like the auto stow and deploy but worry its just something else to have issues with.

I thought of auto-stow and deploy as something that might be needed more on a salt-water rig rather than a fresh-water boat.

Buddy started with the Ulterra! After 3-4 times in the shop it was replaced with the Ultrex! Liked to get stuck in the down position and it's not easy to get it back in the boat when that happens!

Ultrex. Ulterra is nowhere near the same thing.

I've researched this quite a bit-with the ulterra you get electric steer, with the ultrex you get power assist cable steer.

The ultrex foot pedal works better-responds more quickly. I'll be getting an ultrex if I buy a new TM.

Purchased the Ulterra because of a shoulder problem and wanted the auto deploy feature. Motor works great for that application. Biggest draw back is the motor is VERY noisy due to the motor driven electric steer. Foot pedal also is not very responsive., The foot pedal sits flat on front deck and is not designed to be recessed. I had to mount my pedal on a thin sheet of plywood and cover my stock recessed hole in my Ranger.

Thank you for your help. Ultrex sounds like the best option.

I purchased the Ulterra and love it. I have an older boat without a recessed tray and didn't want to cut up my front deck. The low profile foot pedal on the Ulterra works great. I haven't found a down side yet, some have had issues but that is will anything electrical or mechanical. Either will be a good choice, I really like not only the stow and deploy but the trim. It is real great in shallow water. I've also starting to get addicted to the auto pilot, takes the hassle out of boat control.

Good luck with your decision. Either will be great

Having had my Ultrex for a little over a month now I don't know how I got by without one. Best thing that ever happened to a bass boat. If you fish by yourself much or fish on windy days you'll really love it. Lift assist is great for us old people too.

How does the anchor feature work for you? The two I've used wouldn't hold worth a darn in windy conditions.

It has worked great for me. I was on Ray Roberts Sunday and it held me right were I wanted winds were about 15-20 most of the day. Another thing I like is I purchased the 60" shaft so when its rough I can keep the prop in the water. I have the new blue tooth model with the heading sensor. Which helps with the spot lock accuracy.

That's an understatement. First time out, I had that thing spinning from side to side because I was used to the level of force the Fortrex needed. Ultrex only needs slight pressure to turn, and it is quick.

Great info.. I have center console now but will be changing to bass boat in the near future. I will take trolling motor with me. Going with 60" shaft. Seems I am always fishing in the wind, but that is Texas fishing. Thanks again for the input.
