So I have had this current boat (06'Z21) for a year. End of the day when i try and click this button to pull the pedestal pole out so i can roll my cover on, I am a 12 on the rage scale. Do i buy another pole? grease it up? Anyone with experience with this that can help? No this is not the twist on kind it's the thick based product that has a clip or a trigger to release. Please help i am beyond tired of spending 15 min every trip and getting a work out.

I used a pair of vise grips to hold the button down and a pipe wrench to twist mine out of their socket the first time. Now I pull mine out and put a little grease on it every 3 or 4 months.

Use lithium grease.

If it is the plastic insert in the deck, make sure it is not egged. Once you get it out you might be able to see where it is tight, a drum sander on a drill did the trick on one of mine that was egged. I have had to replace two of them on my boat.

I also have a 06 Z21. I had issue for years, finally pulled out plastic sleeve and found that there was a pop revit pushing the sleeve out. I cut the pop rivit out and installed a new sleeve and it now comes out easy.

Also, polished pole and sprayed a little silicon on it

The fit is extremely tight to keep them from wobbling, any amount of dirt causes them to stick. I've tried a few different things and regular grease is to thick and attracts to much dirt which will create even more of a problem. As mentioned either try lithium grease or wd-40, wipe down the pedestal as well. Keeping it clean is key.

Very simple fix. Once you get the pole out and that is not that hard with a little help. Go to store and buy the barrel sanding pad that fits your drill. Sand out the hole with it and no more problem. Caution, it takes it down very fast so be easy with the sanding and don't over do it.

If yours is anything like mine in my phoenix, just cut the latch and button off thats what I did the first time I struggled to get it out.

I had the same problem a few years back. I called the Ranger factory and spoke with one of their techs. He said never grease it or spray anything like wd-40 or silicone on it. I was amazed, wd-40 will fix anything, right ? Haha. He said spray windex on the pole before sliding it in. So, I did It works great. I hope that helps yours as well.
