Rather than going through and trying to replace all the seals on my 1996 SeaStar (HC 5340-42) - I think I’m just going to update the cylinder. The helm is fine and so are the hoses. Can I get away with swapping to a HC 5345-3 cylinder and keeping the same helm and hoses? Or does it all need to be replaced...looks like my cost would be about half with just the cylinder vs the whole new system.

I would give SeaStar a call or email to make sure.

Is your Sea Star system a 1,000 psi or is it a Pro Seeies 1500psi system? Check with Sea Star as mentioned above.

Seals are easy to replace and a whole lot cheaper than the cylinder. I did mine recently. It does help to have 2 people when you torque the new seals. Just make sure your rams do not have any nicks to rough spots.
