Always got to get in that weekly fishing trip! I knew it was gonna be hard to follow up my previous one, just not this hard. The only thing that seemed to be biting Tuesday were the turtles...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
First (and last) carp of the day! Been a while since I've caught one this small.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Moved locations after a few hours with just the one bite and netted my second ever Blue Catfish and two small Channels. Turtles kept stealing my bait and no carp activity to be seen.

Now, that would have been it for this post, but after looking at those pictures a good deal and getting less and less satisfied with my catch for the day, I decided that I'd try to get in one more session this week before work even though I wouldn't have nearly as much time. I headed out to the lake to scope out a spot after work and threw a good deal of chum in and hoped for the best. Needless to say, I caught some fish. All of them were caught using corn and a vanilla/oats pack, and were released to fight another day!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
First fish of the day! Off to an excellent start with my new PB Smallmouth Buffalo @ 15lb 10oz

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
He may be small but he was a ton of fun to catch. First common of the day

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Second common, slightly bigger than the first. Excuse the doofy smiles, I'm still trying to get used to the timer on my camera.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Got another Buffalo! This one came in at 12lb 4oz

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
These carp just keep getting bigger! 9lb 7oz and my biggest carp of the day

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Third buff of the day @14lbs on the nose

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Last carp of the day, broke the streak of them getting bigger every time

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Another buffalo?! This was my fourth buff today and I'd only caught 4 total prior, I think I'm getting the hang of this! 10lb 5oz

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Was packing up when I picked up my rod and got this guy. Apparently he was just sitting on the bottom with my hook in his mouth. 6lb 7oz

It was a fantastic session, especially considering that I had altered my setup and bait in an attempt to specifically target buffalo. It looks like it worked, or perhaps I was just in the right place at the right time. We'll see as I experiment more!

Thanks! I like posting my results here because this forum (among other websites) is where I learned to fish!

Nice stuff.

Grapevine was a big deal back in the days of the LSCB.

I wonder where all those guys are........

Does anyone eat those buffalo?? I had the opportunity to try carp earlier this year, lots of the fish places in Omaha sell it, wasn't that bad. I had also avoided drum all my life until finally deciding to fillet one and it ate just fine. Just made me wonder about the rest of the species considered "rough".

Drum is good eats. Buffalo is reportedly better than carp.
