My name is John Fontenot. I have been asked by BASS to be the volunteer coordinator for the upcoming BASS ELITE SABINE tournament held in Orange, Texas. Some of you may remember me as I was the volunteer coordinator at the Classic weigh-in in Houston last year.
The tournament will be April 6th (Friday) to April 9th (Monday). This is a change from their usual Thurs-Sunday format due to Easter being the previous weekend. I from 5 to 6 boaters each day of the tournament. You will be compensated each day you work. It will be $300 per day you work and $100 if you are cancelled for that day. Cancellations are rare and are usually weather related. You must be at the launch ramp by 5 am each day.
You will need to own a nice looking boat with at least a 175 hp. motor. There are various roles the boaters will fill. Driving Media around to see the pros, Photographer and videographer boats. etc. The last day I will need 7 drivers (can be boaters) to drive the pros rigs up to the stage for them to weigh-in. Requirements are able to drive a boat and trailer in a tight area. You do not need to volunteer for all 4 days. You can work 1, 2, 3, or 4 days.
If interested you can contact me at John K. Fontenot texascajun69@hotmail.com 832-233-6500

Pretty sure that's why you get $300 a day

They give you $300 a day to cover you costs. Last tournament we allowed some of the camera and media boats to launch at the Hwy 87 bridge public ramp. This cut out about 20 miles of running.

Yeah. You gotta follow McClelland all the way out to the gulf and up through the bay. .....$300 a day wouldn't cover his gas. Lol. Or chiropractor bill.

3 yrs. ago we allowed the boaters to trailed to a launch site closer to where they were fishing. This way they were waiting on the pros when they pulled in. A lot cheaper with it on the trailer than on the water. lol.

I wish they were on Rayburn again. I'd love to be able to follow them and help them get some pics/video of the guys fishing.

With LA being off limits you can bet on half the field being in the neches and the other half in the taylors/Hildebrandt area. Just fyi for those boaters, im not sure the pine tree lodge ramp is open on Taylor's, I know pine tree lodge is closed. Take valuables out if you use the hwy 73 ramp on Taylor's. It's not always bad but there are some bad characters that hang around there. If you launch on the neches use the salt water barrier. Pine street had a good ramp but the barrier is a little safer
