The Ray Hubbard Bass Club had our second members only tournament on Cypress Springs lake last Saturday March 10th. There was rain in the forecast but it turned out to be a perfect day to fish. Fishing was really good. We had 43 teams come out and 27 brought five fish limits to the scales. Males made up most of what was brought in along with a few stocky spotted bass. Bigger females proved more elusive however but there were some. Big bass for the tournament was an 8.87 and there was another that went 8.54. When all the numbers came in it was the familiar team of Ronnie Manning and Capp Peace that came out with the narrow win with five for 17.21 pounds. Here are full results and pictures.

Friday night before the tournament there was a crawfish boil at Russell's house and a bunch came out to have fun and eat mud bugs. Our most congenial host is pictured here wearing shorts that match the color of his Phoenix nicknamed by me the Green Mamba. Ladies and gentleman, the King of Cypress Springs Lake, Russell Olds.

Kyle and Bruce Hay had two for 3.60

Here's David Burton with one of those chunky spots. He and Roddy Bieber weighed two for 3.94

Jason and Lisa Bell had four for 6.69

Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz had four for 7 even.

Jeff Hall and Carson Calvert weighed three for 7.48

Chris Lewis and Daniel Phillips had three for 8.20

David Mulkey and Tommy Yates had a limit for 8.73

The aforementioned Russell Olds and Matt Jackson had two for 8.86, but one of those went 6.10

Jeff Dawson and Jim Harcrow had five for 9.47

Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon had three for 9.56, Dale said they were all Kelly's fish and that included her first ever jig fish. Way to go Kelly!

Bryce Glick and Mike Dean had five for 10.04

Palestine winners Tony Climer Jr and Kyle Bell had five for 10.05

Vince Burt and Mark Werner weighed a limit for 11.36

Mike and Connor Dunn had five for 11.84 that included a 5.35

Connor's fish may be a Junior Lake Record from Cypress. They were taking her to get weighed on certified scales. If this is the record, I will post again. Congratulations Connor!

Eddy Wooldridge and Bryan Toombs had five for 12.62. The same pair fished Mega Bass on Fork yesterday and won an hour with Bryan's 11.13 over. Congratulations guys!

James and Shellye Crawford had five for 12.97

We wanted to make sure there was no question as to who caught their big fish on the day. Way to go Shellye!

Brian Roether and Brad Reagan had five for an adjusted 12.99. Here's my VP Brian with two good ones

James Clifton and Justin Bloch had three for lucky 13.13 including a 5.78 kicker

Randy and Howard Bunch got a top ten finish with a solid bag of 13.15

Preston Smith and David Horton had five for 13.21

Proving that sometimes you can teach them too well, David's grandson Cameron McAnally and partner Matthew Sprague had five for 13.24.

Just missing the money with five for 13.38 were Ed and Tyler Ham

Finishing sixth were RHBC newcomers Jeremy Collins and Kelly Langhorn with five for 14.64

Finishing fifth were Paul Spann and Roderick Yeager with five for 14.65

Fourth place went to Warren Whitaker and Jay Messersmith with four fish for 16 pounds even.

Their bag included big bass of the tournament, an 8.87 pound giant!

Awesome fish Warren!

Third place went to David Choate and Stan Browning with an outstanding limit of 16.76.

We knew something was up when these guys were actually at the weigh in. grin Jason Hunnicutt and Travis Reaves finished a close second with five for 17.12

Here's Travis with their kicker, an 8.54 beast!

Here are your winners. Ronnie Manning and Capp Peace have a long track record of great finishes at Cypress. No giants in this bag, just five solid fish for 17.21. Congratulations guys!

Thanks as always to David Simmons for doing registration and keeping the money straight. Thanks to all the TD's, Robert Hitt, David Mulkey and Paul Spann and the partners who get dragged in as always, John Bruner, and Tommy Yates. 43 boats and almost everyone bringing fish to the scales. Great job guys! We're on Lake Tawakoni on April 14th starting at 6:35. We are launching out of Sky Point Park. The meeting is on THURSDAY April 12th. Hope to see you there!
