Four of us made it out: Me, Cody, Benny and David. Everyone caught fish. I ended up with 6 or 7, can't recall as usual, all just smallish males in shallow water. I used a drop shot and a wacky worm rig almost exclusively.
For me, the trick is to fish the cove points. There seem to be fish there all the time.
*** Nothing early out in the standing timber. Floating back, I pedaled over to it one last time, flipped a drop shot near the base of a tree, boom, got a really solid hit that really bent my rod over. The struggle lasted for about 10 seconds and off it came. Dang it! But, when I pulled my drop shot up, the hook was still inside the worm. I often use the KVD technique of bring my hook up through the "chin" of the roboworm, then push the tip toward the "nose" of the worm . . . but leave it embedded inside the plastic. So, there is no way the fish had the worm's tail and was pulling against me that way. For that matter, the worm would have pulled off anyway. What I come away with is the danged fish had the drop shot in its mouth, not the worm, or at least both.
If I have this dialed in correctly, it has happened a few times to me over the years, it reinforces how once a bass swallows or inhales a lure, clamps down on it, that they can really hang on tight.
