I own 6 AG reels...everything from a gen 2 Revo SX to a brand new cheap Black Max..... I've experienced failure of the "pawl" in 3 of them with comparable mileage. I ordered the parts and replaced the pawls, problem solved. Questions are these....have others had this same issue with AG reels? Do pawls wear out on similar equipment from Lews, Quantum, Shimano etc? Is there a "go-to" reel technician you guys like to use for repairs, maintenance etc?

Most of the pawls go out because of being super dirty and not lubed.

Weird. I had 10 gen3 STX reels for a couple years with no problems. Sold all but one and switched to Lews for no other reason than they had a better feel in my hand.

I never had that problem on the Gen 1s. I had the pawl replaced twice on a Gen 2 SX.

Yeah, clean your reels a little more often. Actually, if you going through pawls, at all, clean them a lot more often.

I've replaced the pawl on two of my four Revos (Gen.1 & 2's) but the biggest issue I have is the clutch won't engage after a cast. All of them have the same issue. I have had 2 of them repaired and after a couple months use they're back to having the clutch sticking problem. None of the Shimano or Daiwa products I have owned have this issue.

I own all Revo's, from the S to the STX and still have some Gen 1's that I use frequently. These reels have never let me down and I don't do any maintenance.

The only reels where this hasn't happened to me with are Shimanos

All manufacturers have given me trouble, including Shimano. Nothing is made like it ought to be.
