Is there a significance to the color of crappie eggs and do they correspond with with stage of the spawn they are in? I saw multiple different colors of eggs from one fish to the next today. Some were pale, some were super bright, and some in between.

My americanas lay green and blue eggs. I think they taste better than that brown and the white ones.

My boat looks like it was sprayed with cream corn after today.

You know the eggs are ready, when looks like that.

All females caught today were about done spawning. 18" to 24" deep btw.

Eggs at tawakoni I have seen in the past two days are no where near ready. Catfish, both blue and channel, have much better developed egg sacks.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Closer they get to spawning, the lighter color the eggs. Real close to spawning, eggs get translucent and separate.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

sometimes u can tell more from the males. remember the acronym, MASH ..
Males
are
squirting
heavily.

milt will drip or squirt when you grab them.

the females eggs get almost a saffron color to near cornstarch color.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
