Man, I45 is a BBQ desert. Woody's smokehouse is the only spot I can recommend. Above all, avoid Bubba's. Take 287 to 45 and you add the newer tourist stop just the other side of Midlothian, near SWFA for a bonus. Their BBQ is passable. Good sides.
Seriously, I will haul 407 BBQ down there and I usually go every two weeks.

RL Harris BBQ here is pretty good. It might not show up on the map but it's next to B&C Auto. There is another Harris BBQ (Different Harris) in Waxahachie. It's really good. The Waxahachie Harris BBQ made the Texas Monthly top 50.

Technically, Woodshed Smokehouse meets your criteria since it is located in Fort Worth (and has pricey, but good, BBQ).

The Shell station at the north Fairfield exit has the best road bbq in Texas.

I agree with Cole's BBQ in the Shell Station at the 1st Fairfield exit (Hwy 27) on east side of highway.
