Based on the comments here no one who lived thru the woefully underpowered trucks of the 70s-80s-90s was ever able to pull a boat. Doesnt the 2018 Ford F-150 have 2.7 liter gasser?

My old 5.3 work truck is still pulling a 20 footer just fine, but it only has 485,000 miles.

325 HP and 325 ft/lb torque. More than capable.

I pulled a 18 ft stratos with a ranger 2.9 v6 it did a fair job. But the boat ramp was another story.
Had to pick my ramp careful because a steep ramp is not your friend with a light truck.

The weight of the truck is the problem especially at the ramp I know first hand. Trust me.

I pulled my old tri-hull all over with my 2.9l ranger...but it seems like the speed limit was 55mph in most places at the time.

Ps-the Ford 2.7l has 375 lbs/tq.

Edit: My bad. The 2018 is up 25 to 400 lbs/ tq.

Thanks for the info. Has anyone owned a Colorado? How do they drive and ride? This will probably be the last truck I buy. By the way they are at least $5000 less than full size. Can get a Z-71 four wheel drive for $33000.

I drove one for a couple days while my full size was getting serviced. That little 4 cyc had some pep. And seemed to get good mpg. It did feel like I was sitting in a Honda civic or some other import. I could reach passenger door with barely leaning over. Just too cramped feeling for my taste.

You should be able to buy a full size for almost that. Shop around and buy at the right time of the year and you might beat that.
