I took a little over a week off from the water and hit in running wide open yesterday and today. I had the pleasure of having repeat customers Tony and Ernie out yesterday and repeat customers Eric and his dad out today. Both groups had some great weather and even better fishing.
Yesterday they boated a ton of sandies and kept 50 nice ones and threw back almost that many more while trying to catch a mess of crappie to add to what they already had. I ended up cleaning 65 fish and they left with 3 gallons of fillets. Those guys made some lasting memories for sure.
Today the sandy bite wasn�t quite as good as yesterday and we focused more on crappie. They waded thru a ton of small crappie and only kept a handful of sandies and crappie. They threw back most of what they caught. They did come in with 21 nice sandies and 16 big crappie. They also had another great father son trip.
Both trips also had some giant fish battles on ultra lite tackle and 6 pound test. We had a huge gar yesterday and today on that went air born several times while hooked. He broke off both times. They did land 2 big carp today as well as some smaller gar. All in all it�s been a great few days back on the water.
