Scenario: Got an oil change and paid. Get a phone call later that they gave me a refund instead of charging me. I offered to go back the next day to pay because I was busy that afternoon and they wouldnt take Payment over phone. They agree but then call me back and agree to take payment over the phone. So I pay and they want me to sign the receipt for their mistake. I live in granbury they are in benbrook. I agree for the next day after lunch. The next morning they call me 10 times before 8am when Im sleeping and continue to call. At this point Im frustrated with all the hassle and block their calls. What would you do? Was I being petty?

Call the credit card company and report it stolen. Sounds fishy to me.

It depends, was it the owner calling or a worker who could possibly lose his job over the mix-up?

And it's a pretty good rule to always follow Fouz advice.

Go after lunch and sign. Not that I'd expect it but if I was the shop owner I'd probably give you 50% off your next change for the hassle.

They got paid but I am not a fan of being harassed before 8am on a Saturday to sign a receipt. If the need to call me 10x before 8am is important leave a message. Dont continue to call me every 2 minutes after I agreed to drive 2 hours out of my way for their mistake.

What do you think they would be doing for you if they had accidentally double charged you?

Probably tell you they have to look at the day's sales and get back with you later. Then never call you back.

Or they would tell you it's not their problem and you have to dispute it with your CC company.

This. You offered to pay over the phone. You tried to make it right, or were willing to.

Most likely an employee that was being yelled at by the boss. I'd do what I said I was going to do and then I'd do business elsewhere.

Send your wife away for a week to her cousin. You take over toddler duty. Then do what you said.

Is this a real story or another "my wife is leaving me" type of deal?

I ask bcs you do NOT need a signature on a CC receipt. Nothing is done with those. When I worked in Fraud half the slips we pulled were not signed did not mean anything at all. They will get paid either way. Tell them to call their merchant bank if for some reason they dont get paid... ridiculous non sense.

And change your own oil. Grandbury.... wife leaving town with the cousin. Toddler. Oil change... they called me too much. Get your life together June.

They do not need your signature. They can write signature on file.

There is 10000% zero chance I would even drive 10 min for their mistake much less 2 hours. I probably would of told them to bad so sad when they called saying they didn't charge me correctly

They only need your sig in the event you dispute charges.
Csrs pay with card from time to time at the restaurant, take both copies and call in and dispute the charge. Guess who doesnt have a copy and has to eat it.(reimburse)

it's very possible the manager/owner looked at the situation, realized how foolish it was to ask a customer to come back and sign a receipt and they are calling to tell you they have resolved the issue and no need for you to come by....or.....maybe they decided to not charge you at all.....
I'd call them back before I drove 2 hours....and if they still wanted me to come sign a receipt which sounds awful petty, tell them you will but they have to reimburse you for your time and gas expense.....

Its not fake news. They wanted me to sign the the receipt for the refund they gave me instead of charging me for the oil change. They also wanted me to drive to the business again to pay in person instead of taking my payment over the phone. We worked it out and I was able to pay over the phone and I paid double to make up for them refunding me money. They insisted they needed my signature and I agreed I would be there on Saturday around lunch time. I woke up the next morning with my phone vibrating non stop and literally 10 missed calls before 8am. If it was so important for them to call me 10 times, leave a message, theres no need to call me every two minutes to sign a dang receipt.

Let me share some things. I worked in a big bank in BDU (Billing Disputes Unit) and in Fraud for 8 years. Its been a while but I doubt much has changed.

Yes then bank will issue a Chargeback for UNAUTH TRAN and ask for the media (charge slip). And you not having it does not mean you lose at all. You represent for plastic at POS (Point of Sale) and ask if the account was closed L/S/A and on what date (Lost/Stolen/Altered). If it was not you win. If it was it goes to fraud and the bank has to write it off.

Talk to your accountant. Chargebacks for UNAUTH TRAN almost never stick unless the acct is in fraud then its a w/o on the issuer.

Of course if you do have singed media its easier. The issuer will send it to the Cardholder and ask if thats their sig. If they say no, acct. is closed, new acct number and plastic issued and it goes to fraud. Usually they know the jig is up and say yes.

If the client does that more than once, the acct. will be reviewed for closure as credit abuse. If that happens its on their credit report that they are gaming the credit system and thats frowned upon.

I still change my own oil also. Like a man. "Never pay a man to do something you can do yourself". Best advice I ever got.
