Shun are probably the best they are no doubt in the discussion as are the Wusthof and Victorinox I do like buying separates...or individual knives...that way you end up with good knives that work for the application you are looking for. Anyone who has worked around massive amounts of food understands the value of specific knife types and their purpose in the Kitchen (or tailgate!).

I've had a Henckels 5 Star set for 22 years now and they are as good today as they were when I got them. I'd highly recommend them.
