Nope. Fork is dead. Try Ray Hubbard or Benbrook.

To really enjoy Fork, then hire a guide.

You can stay at Fork and run the 45 minutes to Monticello. Also if you have time caddo is worth checking out. Its the only natural lake in Texas and full of cypress trees.

roflmao I had to laugh when I read this. TFF is full of some great awesome people and you ask for help on sand bass, boat motors, boats, graphs, trolling motors, or anything else under the sun and you will get some great help and advice. Ask for help on bass fishing and you will get "They are hitting lures in the water." or total lockjaw will set in. Fork is a great lake but you can easily get skunked on this lake. I agree with the recommendations to get a guide for your first day.

Thanks, yep, it dropped faster than i thought.

Monti is always going to drop that fast from here on out. One gate to Sandlin is wide open and will be from here forward which stinks. I fished out there last weekend and the water is by FAR the muddiest I've ever seen it. Even water by the dam, maybe had 5" of visibility and there was a very distinct color line right when you get to the highway bridge. It came up 3' then dropped 2.5' in a matter of 10-12 days.....talk about flushing a toilet.

Me and a good friend also caught a sand bass each in the last 2 weeks out there. They obviously came through the gates from Sandlin since I've not heard of any other caught in the last 10 years.

To the OP - in my mind there's no such thing as "the place" anymore. There can be for stretches of time, but not over the long haul. Thanks to TPWD we have so many great options in Texas, you can really just plan around time of year, water and weather conditions and probably have a great time. Just look at the results for Rayburn last weekend for Champs...4 bags over 30#, another 17 over 20# and 100+ bag in the teens. That would be somewhere to think about going for the next few weeks.

Yet another DD reported today (per Lake Fork Marina FB). Congrats to the angler. This lake is definitely still one of the top big bass lakes in Texas on my list as of late. One look per the TPWD Sharelunker list will show you why.. many lakes have 14 - 15 maybe even 20 reported big bass catches. Lake Fork I believe has 200+ wink
