Any one have experience with these? It's the low end of the Simms rain gear brand. I've spent a bunch of time reading through all the recent threads on rain gear and am still no closer to deciding which route to go. These are cheaper which is appealing, but not Gore-Tex which makes me nervous.

Don't do it. Buy the real deal or nothing. A buddy bought the jacket and fished in the rain all day last week. Said he was soaked in the first two hours.

had to buy all new rain gear a few months back. I bought the Challenger suit. Would not take for it now after using it. Extremely comfortable, ergonomic more than most, built well and does what it claims it will do. The Simms brand has been around for a good while and only within last 6-8 years hit the bass market heavy. They have an inpeccable reputation. Glad I bought mine. I ordered during a TW sale. Glad I did.

Any advice Chris on how to convince your wife you need rain gear that costs 500-1000 dollars? I could use it! roflmao

Check out the Simms site as some of the Challenger gear is on sale. They have free shipping and returns as well.

Usually the case with any product made by humans. He might have had a Friday at 4:55PM suit and mine was a Wednesday at 10:00AM suit..... cheers

Huh? You said the Simms Challenger sucks, so do I. Doesn't keep you dry at all. But Ive had the Simms ProDry for several years now, and its the best rain gear Ive owned.

I did. Perry is the one who's happy with the Challenger. krawlin47 is the guy who got soaked in his new Challenger jacket. I wear pro-dry.

Yes! Walk into the kitchen and throw down your Man-Card and tell Kate you're buying a new $1,000 rainsuit!

Lemme know how that works out for ya.

I can tell you first hand that the Challenger jacket is a total POS.

I experienced this first hand - fished all day in the rain - my upper body and pants under my bibs were soaking wet. Good thing is was 60 outside or I would have froze. I have a Challenger jacket I will sell you for %50.00 size extra large. I will never wear it again...much better options out there for equal or less money - I am looking at $200 shells and will layer from now on.

Pro Dry is the only way to go.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
