I guess you'll have to kill it first. roflmao

It's hard to give credibility to a reference with a huge glaring error on the title. They even went so far as to capitalize their stupidity.

Or you could just learn what 4 species in Texas you have to be aware of and leave the rest alone.

But that's too much work.

Found a baby rat snake on the front door stoop the other night and gently sent him on his way into the flower bed. Id rather have the snake around then mice/rats

Venomous snakes will be destroyed on sight

Don't think I'll ever get close enough to verify any of those physical characteristics.

I go by the old saying, triangular head = venomous, and in general I steer clear of all snakes if I can.

Because you know, snakes are an endangered species. If you kill one it will probably be the last one and the earth will be run over by rodents. So instead of killing the snake, pick it up, love it, kiss it on its snout. They are very emotional and most of the ones that bite you just need a hug.

I wonder if the snakes sit around going, "Well Jim you know the dangerous red necks are the fat ones with the overalls".

"Nah they are not the dangerous ones. Its the skinny ones with the mullets!"

"Oh to heck with it, I cant tell one from the next, lets bite em all and let god sort em out!"

Just wonderin’ ... I know their general range in TX based on maps. Who has seen a coral snake (or cobra) in TX north of I-20 in the last 10 years and where? (me = never).

There are plenty of them at Cedar Hill State Park at Joe Pool. When the lake flooded so badly a couple years ago they were warning people about corals, copperheads and rattlers at the entrance. My sister was training for a hike and went out there several times and saw many corals and a couple rattlers.

I wouldn't bet on them not being in that stretch of bottomland going from there up to Mountain Creek.

I'd actually like to see one. I'm on the other side of the lake and haven't seen a coral since I was a teenager.

Went to Lancaster last weekend. It's different.

I should have gone to Hershey Park and swam in the chocolate pool.

I noticed the poisonous (or vemonous) one in the pic has downwards turned eye brows. Take those away and he would look much friendlier.

triangle or diamond shaped head is what I use to identify poisonous vs non poisonous snakes....never seen a copperhead or coral snake in the water but if you see a snake swimming with its entire body on top of the water,it's a cottonmouth or a rattlesnake...snake that's swimming partially submerged is almost always a water snake of some kind...
