3 years.

SPT is correct we stocked Hybrids along with the TPWD and we were catching them the next year but they were all shorts. 3 years they were legal length.

Am I mistaken or did the A&M survey state " They are fertile, unlike most other hybrid species and reach sexual maturation at 2 years of age." I never heard of that anywhere else. I always thought it was put and take. Hope it is true.

I recall the literature saying they "don't successfully reproduce", which is not quite the same as "infertile." Something about the conditions they need for a successful spawn, maybe more like what stripers need rather than whites? Speed of the current, water temp, stuff like that. Haven't we all caught hybrids mixing it up with spawning whites?

I understand that a hybrid female can have viable eggs of which a male sandie can fertilize but in two generations they will have gone back to regular sandies

Lake Somerville was stocked in the summer of 2017 with hybrid fingerling. It was last stocked in 2014. I got into a school of hybrid a few times in november and december of 2017 that were slightly over 13" long! That seems like a rapid growth rate!
