To me when the water levels anywhere are dropping fast the bite goes away until the water level stabilizes or starts to rise. I have fished all my life in Red river and when the river is rising the fish bite. When they shut to water off at Texoma the fish get lockjaw immediately.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

For me it's been this way, when on the rise shallow is best, when it starts a slow fall they will go to the edge of the flooded timber near the main lake and feed there.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

On the Tennessee River, open dam = great fishing! Both on the lake and on the river.
