I'm heading to Destin this June and will be doing some salt water fishing. Don't want to drag all my rods n reels if there's no place to bass fish. If anyone could give some incite or info on where to catch bass while I'm there I would really appreciate it. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Tight lines!

I tried in a few ponds there last August. I didn't catch anything. Saw some perch but never any bass.

I fished one little pond for a little while and didn't catch anything. But I did go to the Okaloosa pier and threw a Gotcha plug around and hooked up on about 5 Ladyfish in the 30ish minutes I was there. Couldn't land any of them due to the high angle of the pier giving them plenty of leverage to jump and throw the hook so in the future I would probably replace the hooks with some higher quality ones.

I tried a bunch of ponds in destin for bass a few years ago and caught nothing. A trout guide told me to hit the golf course and it looks good but didnt catch anything.
Like others have said, stick to the salt. The fishing is awesome down there so dont waste time with freshwater. We caught 30+ lady fish each day on small jig heads and shaky heads just messing around in the surf. They hit it hard and fight a lot. Lots of fun.

my thought exactly - reds, trout, drum...there is a ton of fishing right in Destin. Bass fishing you will have to go inland and it is not near as good to eat!
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I used to live in Bluewater Bay right over the bridge from Destin. The ponds over there are really good. Use trick worms or catch some brim and put them on a circle hook. Lots of big fish doing that in those ponds

ive gone there last 2 years in june, fishing was easy with fresh dead shrimp on a pompano rig. I just went from the surf but you can do well at the jetties and in the bay from what i was told

The ponds behind the Hilton resort on the golf course are great for bass fishing. I take a rod every year and have caught some great fish in them...good luck!
