I don't bass fish much any more, however I do bass fish pretty hard during spring break with my sons...it's time to respool my reels with fluorocarbon and my oldest son is using a Baitcaster now as well, so to cut down on the expenses could anyone share how you go about correctly backing a spool...I use seaguar invizx...thanks

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

You shouldn't need to back it if you're spooling with straight fluoro. The only time you would need to use a backing is with braid as it slips.

I use 50# braid backing then apply electrical tape over that then add fluoro. By adding the tape it keeps the fluoro from digging in to the braid and the braid is light which might help in casting distance. I wouldn't spend the bucks to buy expensive new braid, get some cheap stuff.

Just leave about 25-30 yards(for a 100 yard real spool) of whatever is on there and tie onto it with the new line.

This is what I do. No need to waste expensive line that never touches the water.

2/3 of cheap backing. then, wrap around it a few times with e tape. now you have a perm wider spool to tie on to with the new fluoro. no uni knots ever again.

x3, I do this with braid. I spool half of it up with Sufix mono, the rest with braid. 150yd spool of braid will spool 3-4 reels easily and never have had any issues with it. Spooling the whole reel with braid is a complete waste. You'll never use even half of it. If you can cast your whole spool, let me know where I can get those kind of arms.

Easy way to save braid/fluro and money
