Dead shrimp this time of year is great . Its 90 th st and Seawall . Small little Pier only 1/4 mile long (1200 ft ) . Reason me and wife go their to fish > My wife wants a CLEAN Restroom for her rump. Hey so do I . It's a family pier good people , supplies and lots of fishing buddies . Plus you catch fish ....Usually there is someone with a drop net for those big fish .

fished friday afternoon at galveston fishing pier from 2 till about 8 oclock. landed two keeper flounder on live shrimp. I lost 3 keepers.. next time I will bring a net. water was nice and green all the way to the beach.. I have a feeling the trout bite will be good under the lights!!
p.s. the fresh blacked flounder I had was delicious!!

Surf glad you caught something my wife got sick so I didnt make the trip ..Talked to a freind down there said he saw a BullRed landed , 3 jacks , 2 flounder , and some sheephead.... Yeppers Specks will be coming real soon ... You can get a 4 ft pier drop net and 30 ft of rope at GanderMountain for $25.00 . This monster net will pull up 70 lb sharks . Proply more but thats the biggest I ever pulled up .

Me and wife at Galveston Fishing Pier , we caught 13 nice whitings in 2 lbs class , a 22 inch black drum , a 20 inch sand shark , a 17 inch black tip shark , lots of bait stealers sand trout and hardheads . But had a great time . The blue water was right around t head so specks should be there tonight .If your gona use dead shrimp best buy it somewhere fresh , the stuff the pier been selling would make my cat barf...... OOOOOOOOOOO I caught all the big stuff , only cause my wifes line broke on a bull red.

May 5th , nightime. me and wife had our first night trip to galveston fishing pier this yr . Drove though all those storms to get there. Fishing was fantastic. we caught 5 keeper reds (lost 3 others) caught 9 keeper drums , a 17 inch speck ( with dead shrimp on bottom ) , and 6 (4-6 lbs) gafttop , also 13 nice fat whiting , and of course 10000000000000 hardheads . Was a very nice no rain ,light winds till 3 am . When the winds picked up we still caught fish.

Tuesday 8th stuck my nose out on pier to see what fishing was like . Quite a few 4- 6 lbs gafttop landed > New leader in gafttop Tourney 6Lb 10 oz. A few bullreds .... Windy and muddy water ... Winds expected to drop to 5 - 10 knots so fishing should improve ....

Friday 11th at Galveston fishing Pier : Water was sandy, light winds,no redfish or black drum or specks around ... But man the gafttops were in. Me and my wife and Ted caught 27 of them (3-6lbs)Also a few nice sized whiting .. I was told that on thursday night before the thunderstorms the people on the pier were killing the specks ...

Friday 25 windy and water dirty ... A very stupid thing happened... I caught a black tipped shark (22-24 inches) A freind was helping me... he lowered my 4 ft landing drop net and scooped up the shark ... When he got it up to the rail and it slipped from his hand .. Down went net and shark and flying out of my surprised hands, my ABU 6500 c and 7 ft popping rod ... So if anyone sees this shark tell him I want my rod and reel back .... Fishing wasnt great but did get a nice 25 in red on the Berkley 2 in. PeelerCrap Gulp Bait ( Also caught before mentioned shark on the bait ...along with 3 other small blacktips ....

I will be in Galveston May 30-June 1. I am curious about the very east side of the island where there are shallow backwaters with grass. It kinda looks like a place you would see the professional Redfish anglers on TV fishing. Are these spots worth fishing this time of the year?
