 How long do you keep fishing line?

I ordered some bulk spools and was going through my box of line. I started marking them the day I get them years ago. I just threw out the remnants of a couple of 3000 yd P-line Premium CX. I had marked them June 2005 with a sharpie.
I have a few other spools dated 2013 I have 100 percent confidence in. These are all stored indoors.
Ive been using the line from 2005 to see if I could get it to fail. It hasnt shown any deterioration I could discern.

P-line doesnt last very long with me. I throw it out quickly. But only because I think its garbage. 
If you can't find em wind em.

Are you using CXX or Premium? Premium is the only line Ive used for a very long time and Ive been pretty happy with it.

I think it depends on how you store it. Cool dry place (i.e. closet), I have no problem with 10 year old line. Keep it in the garage around here and you notice a difference in 10 months.

I use McCoys Mean Green and have had a reel lined with it for 7 years now. STILL GREAT LINE and has a few curls do to age, but they stretch right out. OF COURSE, mono I used to change out every 2 months because of teh curls. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

reels usually get changed every couple months. the spool of line usually doesnt last me a year or two. normally I just buy 1000 yd spools. i keep them out of the sun and heat.

I think it was premium but dont recall specifically. I just exclusively use Seagaur now.
If you can't find em wind em.

Ive been using the line from 2005 to see if I could get it to fail. It hasnt shown any deterioration I could discern. If you aren't having any problems with the line, keep using it. I've tried to simplify the lines I use over the years. Like you, I love the P-Line CX Premium and use it on both fresh and saltwater applications (it's by far my most used line). My other 2 lines are Seaguar Invizx and Sufix 832.
