I used the linked crab cake recipe 2 weeks ago and it was good. Make sure you poach the fillets for a few minutes first and don't over work them, just fold together gently. I made the cakes and refrigerated them before cooking to hold their shape. http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/baltimore-style-crab-cakes

Zatarains makes a crab cake mix in the box. I substitute the 1 pound of crab meat with 1 pound of ground or finely chopped crappie. I do add one bunch of chopped green onion tops and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Its a very simple recipe on the box with only a couple ingredients. They are delicious and simple to cook. You can bake them in the oven, pan fry with a little olive oil, or deep fry.

The Zataran's worked great! I added 1/4 cup of bell pepper and a 1/4 cup of onions. Worked very well with the crappie cakes. Tight lines! 1Fisher77316

Is this the same Zatarains as the crab boil? Def not the same as the crab boil. Usually the crab cake mix is in the baking goods aisle(at least at kroger)
