Ok so I have been reading these posts for some time, and have decided I want to start trying to tie some crappie jigs for myself. I am a avid crappie fisherman, and think this could just add an extra level of enjoyment to the game. Here is the kicker. My wife and I just started the whole Dave Ramsey get out of debt plan, so I dont have very much to spend in order to get a setup. I do t need anything fancy just something that will work. Is there a beginners kit or something that yall would recommend? Something fairly cheap? Thanks and I am looking forward to it.

I started with a very cheap set from Amazon. Fly Tyers Dungeon is a great place for cheap supplies. It is really a lot of fun and catching that first fish on your own lure is a blast.

I started with something cheap and now looking to upgrade to something a lot better. My advance would be buy the best you can afford. But the cheap ones work good. I have tied 1000s of jigs on my cheap $20 vise. But wanting something and little smoother now.

What Jig Man said. You can't beat their customer service.

Another vote for Crazy Angler beginner kit. I still tie on that cheap vise, and although a new peak would be awsome, I manage just fine. I tie jigs for personal use only, and several of my friends tie as well. Nothing like catching on your own jigs.

I have been down the Dave Ramsey path. Stay with it. Being debt free (except for the house) is a good place to be. PM me your address and I will send you some material samples to try.
