Good stuff. Glad to see Conroe producing fish like it once did 35 years ago in the pre carp days.

We wish that was true. It still has some big fish but the lake does not come anywhere close to producing like it did with grass. There are not hardly any 50+ fish days like when there was grass. Conroe is a true example of a TPWD failure as far as fish management is concerned.

If you have 2700+ fishing days and you hit the timing right it's going to look like the fishing is better than it is. Conroe always has good sized fish. However it isn't a lake where you typically see a high percentage of 5 fish limits in tournaments.

If TPWD could manage the grass fishing would be awesome.

Don't blame TP&W, blame the San Jacinto River Authority.

Did anyone say how they were catching 'em out there? Curious if the guys who cashed checks were mostly fishing shallow or offshore?

And the lake Conroe home owners.

Lake LBJ is my guess for next carp lake or heavy spraying. It's got tons of money living on it and it's relatively shallow. It's an amazing fishery as shown by Basschamps. Money and rec boats talk...

Which agency had to approve the immense number of carp that were placed in the lake that ended up overstocking the carp?

They do spray it quite a bit. I think they did last year? Honestly there's not a lot of grass in it. There's the huge patch of it near the dam, and then a bunch on the south side of the lower lake a bit west of the bell tower or whatever

They need to genetically engineer a carp that will only eat snot grass. That's what LBJ needs. I've never seen a lake with as much as that stuff in it.
