Good day all. We've been lucky enough to visit the Rockport/Port Aransas area the last couple of years for a few days in late March. We will be back again this year the last week of March. We caught a bunch of trout off the piers after dark our first year and repeated that and got introduced to Jetty Fishing for sheepshead last year and it as a blast. My son REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wants to catch a Redfish this year. We haven't had any luck for Redfish. Any spots or tactics that are much better for possibly catching a redfish? We've fished shrimp under popping corks, spoons, plastics on jigheads, etc. We are looking forward to fishing the Jetty in Port A(the one right off the beach) more as we had more action for our time there, but we've wade fished other what seem to be popular spots in the area and have yet to connect on a redfish. Any and all thoughts would be great. We will be there the last week of March.

Thanks

might try some crab too. just tear one in half and spear it on a hook. throw it out there and let it sit on the bottom where there's some kind of current flow. look for a break or indention in the rocks at the jetties where the water has to make a turn or where you can see water being forced from one side to the other. good luck.

Thanks for the info folks. Hoping soaking a crab or some cutbait on the jetty will do the trick. May also throw some spoons and plastics. Thanks for any and all info.

36" Black drum off sea wall by ferry landing Port A. 3-14-2018
Big shrimp with shrimp flavor fishbites on bottom.
Hung into a big one off of Jetty same set up, broke off because of the rocks cutting the line...
Used mullet too but no luck with them.

x2 for fishing the bottom with cut mullet. It's my go-to setup for reds. Try the jetties or any walk-in spots you might find. I like to throw right in the middle of knee-high sand pockets and let it soak.
