Because it will last a long time. There is supposed to be PVC slid over the rebar to mark the stump. As times passes by, the PVC disappears in one way or another.
And after a while, the rebar rusts off at whatever level and instead of your boat sliding up on a stump, it rides up on the rebar and gouges the glass...

I might start carrying a can of fluorescent orange rustoleum Dont have enough room in my yak for extra pvc
Those stumps at Hawkins are lethal enough without that rebar

Fished it. Caught one little dink. Think the rains have screwed up the bite. All the fish had lock jaw.

Only ramp worth using is at the Lake Hawkins RV Park and it's a one lane ramp. Is something wrong with the county ramp next to Taste of Italy? No, its a great ramp, easy to launch and beach. Plenty of parking just across the street.

Silly question but why would somebody put rebar in the top of those stumps? Because it will last a long time. There is supposed to be PVC slid over the rebar to mark the stump. As times passes by, the PVC disappears in one way or another. The stumps are easy to see without the rebar or PVC but I promise you that guy is not gonna spend the time or money for PVC for other peoples sake. They're not doing it for other people. And I didn't say it made sense.

Long walk which is why I recommend the RV park. 90 feet? Of course, I don't go there on weekends so maybe it's worse then.
