So true!

However, second place does have local knowledge. I grew up with ol Jeffery.

Or Plan B - go to Medina Lake and catch numbers but few and far between on big fish.
Water was 60-61 Monday. Lots of hungry fish. Lake level dropping rather quickly again.

Sir, you can throw an empty hook in that lake and succeed in catching more than I do with $1k worth of lures. It just boggles my mind at how it beats me down every time.

Didn't want to start a new thread just to ask a question...Canyon Lake is super clear right now. Would anyone consider throwing a jerk bait? I know they are more associated with cooler weather and water temps but I feel like it might work.

Throw em. Caught plenty of bass on a jerk bait on Canyon in June. Smallmouth love em.

The first tournament I ever fished was a San Antonio Bass Club event on Canyon Lake in 1972. Though I was born and raised in New Braunfels, I'd only been on the lake once before. I got lucky and won both first place and big bass with a single fish - a 6-02, caught on a black jig and black 6" pork eel. I haven't been back since.
