Got a chance to get back out on the water again! This time I tried a place I've never fished before, and a bait I've never used before. Even though my phone died and I woke up late, the weather was perfect and the fish were active. I saw a ton of fish showing themselves all around my baited area, both carp and buffalo, and even saw a carp launch himself headfirst out of the water! It would've been a cool experience even if I didn't catch anything. Spoiler alert, I did. All fish were caught on a method mix consisting of oatmeal, panko, sweet feed, fermented corn, and chili powder unless otherwise specified, and were released to fight another day.
Yes! Finally, a buffalo! I've been waiting for this fish for ages now, he may be small but he had my heart racing as soon as I saw him. 6lb 22in, caught on a ball of white bread.
I was still in disbelief that I'd caught my first buffalo when I landed this guy. 9.1lb and 25.5in and my current (hopefully not for long) PB.
First carp of the day @12.4lbs and 28.5in. Beauty.
Second carp, the smallest of the carp I caught today but the hardest fighter. 8.4lbs and 26.5in
Last fish for today @10.9lbs and 28.5in. It's a shame that I had to work. The fish were still going strong in my baited area, showing themselves regularly. I've never seen that in person before today, and it killed me to leave such active fish. Hopefully next time they're still as ready to be caught by yours truly.
