All my boats have had and will have a black bottom.

All my tournament boats had white bottoms. That was my preference. If dealers carried them my next purchase would be white. Finding one is the problem now as I do not order and have to take what is available on the lot. Skeeter does not give you that option unless your order the high end boats.
- It seems not to show scratches as bad as black.
- The white bottom complemented the other light colors like Hologram on the side of the boats.
- As it passes over fish it is not a dark mass. It resembles a cloud in my thanking and doesn't seem to spook fish as bad in the mid-range depths of 10 ft. or less.
- I have never had any trouble keeping it looking good and clean with the proper products for cleaning.

I'm in the minority here with you Donald. There's just as much conjecture out there suggesting white bottoms are less prone to spook fish over black, but that isn't really why I prefer them. I just like the way they look and the less effort required to keep them looking good.

Donald that's the opposite of everything I have ever read about boat color.....but I don't know if it matters.... I have been in white bottom and black bottom boats and killed them... sometimes I believe people over think things.

My current boat is black bottomed....it looks like a battle field under there other than the one time per year I buff it out and wax it (other than the pad - don't wax that ever!)

Both are fairly easy to spot if your upside down in the water. Black might be easier to spot in 5 ft. white caps. roflmao

I belong to a black bottom boat. Just be careful for rocks and such and they are harder to keep clean. It's made to fish, though, just do it!

Black bottom boats do scratch any easier than any other colored boat... They just show the scratches more... A black Sharpe is your best friend... Dan

The bottom of my boat has never touched anything except stumps while trolling and it looks terrible under the flat part of the bottom. I mean it looks like it was run aground on the ramp. But my keel guard doesn't have a mark on it. And I never beach my boat. Just wondering if this is normal?

Yes they will scratch while trolling over stumps if the boat comes in contact with the stump. Take a piece of firewood from the pile at your house and soak it in water for a while. Now go out to you or your neighbor's black car and apply 900 pounds of pressure on it and run it down the side of the car. Did it scratch the paint?

A black bottomed boat does NOT scratch any easier than a white bottomed boat. It just shows up much more prominently on the black bottom. No matter what the color is when you scratch it, it looks whitish. Now some boat companies have a thicker gelcoat than others but now we are doing the Ford vs Chevy thing.

Black shows dirt and scratches more. I've owned a white bottom boat and now how have a black bottom boat. I've noticed no difference in fish catches. I feel like that's just a personal preference among different anglers.
