good article thank you for posting. I had the pleasure of fishing with Randy the first week Gibbons creek opened. My dad let me skip school. I caught my first 7 lber that day.

I think I still have several of those old cardboard rolls of Lynch Line in the garage...that first braid bite was life changing....

Randy is a first class person first and foremost and a great fisherman. I have had the privilege of staging next to him in tournaments and he is full of information. He is a very humble guy but when then flag drops he is intense an incredible angler. I always wish him the best of luck.

Good article. It mentioned his son Slade and his tournament fishing. It seems like he was doing really good and then just disappeared from the tournaments all at once. Anyone know why?

Thanks for reading and for the nice comments. Randy was the first pro angler I fished with -- spent the entire practice period with him for an FLW on Buggs Island back in 1997 -- and it was great to catch up.

While I have your attention, any other "Where are They Now?" candidates you'd like me to track down? I've always loved that issue of Sports Illustrated and was pleased when BASS jumped on the idea for their 50th anniversary. Already working on a couple more.

How about another Texan from the same area - Randy Fite?

RKT, funny you should mention Randy Fite. Here's an article I wrote about him a number of years ago after interviewing Randy, Rick Clunn and Gary Klein.

Pete - How about an article on Bo Dowden. Used to see him and I believe his 2 sons when fishing the Anglers Choice Pro Ams and he seemed larger than life and a really nice man.

Bo is definitely high on my list. I know he's a realtor at Toledo Bend but not much else of the story.
