I noticed that the TP&W fishing report had some questionable water temps on some cold water lakes the last couple of weeks.

This brought up a bigger question for me. Do you read these reports with any confidence? Do you trust newspaper fishing reports? If so which ones.

What do you think of printed or online reports?

Beside this forum do you use any other sources to get reports?

Thanks in advance.

Blindshot,

Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it.

My dad used to turn in the reports for Amistad. He threw the same baits every trip and fished the same area of the lake. I never put much faith in them at all. Not to knock on dear ol' dad.

You also can't pay attention to the their "Angling Opportunities" charts. Experience tells me they are about as reliable as their fishing reports.

I do use the TP&W reports but only for temperature in spring and winter and then lake levels. You can also visit the ACOE and river authourity sites for the same info.

Keep a fishing journal. Then use info you read anywhere and your previous experiences to make a wise decision to fish when, where, and what kind of fish.

A couple of years ago all the fishing reports were saying the fishing was great on Cooper. People were catching them on the mid lake humps. The problem was that the lake was 14 feet low and all the boat ramps were high and dry. Nobody could get to the humps. So much for believing fishing reports.
