Wow... Ray was a good man.

He fished with me on several occasions over the years at Fork. One day in Oct he hooked and lost a Giant on a Bagley DB3 crankbait. He wrote the article about his day on the lake with me and titled it Loch Fork Monster

Sad to hear he is gone.

Ray was a friend and was instrumental in helping get the word out about Private Water Fishing. I was able to fish with Ray and his wife Emile many times. The last time was in April and likely the most fun we had. Ray and Emile are folks who are truly interested in others. Ray caught 6 fish over 5 lbs, including a 9lb fish. Emile caught a 7 lber. About 2 years ago Ray invited me to his induction to the TPWD Hall of Fame. Ray likely had 25 friends and family who were there to witness his induction. Unfortunately, Ray had to miss due to illness, he was in the hospital. He has been sick for a long time. I've spoken to several outdoor sportswriters who believed Ray Sasser likely had the largest impact of any regional outdoor sportswriter in the country. Ray will be missed by so many!

Fouz. I cannot find anything about it on-line. I had not heard. Do you have a link?

I've not seen anything in the press. A friend of Ray's texted me this morning about it.

Years ago reading the Thursday fishing report in the Dallas Morning News was the way I found out about fishing in lakes around the state. I called Mr. Sasser a could of times to ask him questions about lakes before I drove hours to fish them. He was very friendly and helpful to someone he had never met. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Ray's articles and books are a large part of why I'm such an avid outdoorsman.
