Depends on the lake. If rayburn makes a big jump into the bushes and trees the fish always go up too. Regardless of water temp or time of year You would think. I fished a lake yesterday and I thought for sure the fresh flooded cover would be good. But, it was not the case. At least yesterday. The brush I fished was in 2-3ft. And had varying amounts of thickness. I tried in front, in the middle, and behind the cover...between the brush and bank. I marked a lot of fish in 20ft. I couldn't get them to bite. Around noon, I decided to go buy tackle instead of lose it. Ha.

That was crazy. Gvine was like 20+ ft high right? I saw water at the bathrooms at mcpherson.. I also took my old boat under the balcony at the gaylord. That isn't likely to happen again. 2015 was an absolutely huge statistical outlier. As I recall, the D/FW Metroplex received 62" or so of total rainfall, way above the previous record . . . and about twice the normal annual rainfall. What would be great, though, would be to have enough rain to break the light to severe drought conditions that preceded this rain event, then have a wetter than usual summer to see us through into the fall. Other places in Texas could only wish for some of this! Brad Unlikely yes but a real possibility especially with spring storms starting early this year.

I’ll have my flipping stick rigged but in the rod box tomorrow. The days and massive amounts of rain have been cold dropping water temps probably 10 degrees. I think it pulled them off out of the shallows but I’ll keep em honest. Probably gonna be a largely finesse day on RR tomorrow for me.
If you can't find em wind em.

I never get too giddy on flipping bushes in 45 degree water temps, unless there is grass present, too.

True. But that's the case with any weather/water changes. I can say this.....the weather trend has been stable. Cold, raining, and [censored]. Lol. For a week now.
I'm still gonna give it a shot today. I will also have some lighter presentations on deck also....just in case they still have lock jaw.

I am sure they will agree Look....nobody likes to see weather harm a persons property. I feel for em too. But, my post was not intended to rub [censored] in those folks faces. It was intended to be exciting for the lakes that get drawn down every year from the folks that have to have the greenest lawns in DFW. Sorry if it offends anyone.

its called a drought. water is the new oil in Texas. I feel for anyone flooded but that's what insurance is for if you decide to live in a flood plain. don't dramatize your closed lakes expectations.

I guess I need to put a water hose inside my home and leave it running so I can feel the same way

It was intended to be exciting for the lakes that get drawn down every year from the folks that have to have the greenest lawns in DFW. Sorry if it offends anyone. Those homes were built in a 100 year flood plain in the early 60's and before that area was annexed into the city of Rockwall so there were no building codes enforced or city inspections. When you build in a flood plain, as most golf courses are, you have flooding problems and if you can get insurance it's very expensive. Developers knew this was a flood plain and I find it hard to believe the people who bought there didn't know it. The golf club I belong to is in a flood plain that also has a creek running through it. May be weeks before its playable again. Sorry for all those folks getting flooded but sooner or later this was gonna happen. By the way, Rockwall Lake is in no way connected to Lake Ray Hubbard.
