Had a nice mess of crappie today in 5 ft of water. All fish were caught on jigs. Black & chartreuse and white & chartreuse. The eggs in these fish looked fully developed. Weather permitting it won’t be long now.

Gary, black crappie?

Don't they move shallow a bit ahead of white crappie?

I caught one over the weekend in 5 feet of water. Odd, the area was seemingly void of all fish up in the cove, then boom, they were there.

Brad

And the water temp was 59, but all of this rain & the cold front is going to send them back into deeper water for awhile.

But those are some nice Black Crappie.

Right time, right place!

Black crappie do tend to move up earlier than whites. Upper 50's to lower 60s is enough for blacks to move shallow.

Y’all made me go back and look at my original post. Lol I never said the water temp was 59 but I sure wish it was that warm around here. It ranges from 47 to 55 in all the places I’ve fished. Makes a guy want to pull what’s left of his hair out chasing these crazy things.

Found some 55 degree water on lake Nac this past weekend. Down here I think the rain warmed up the water a bit.
