Has anybody ever successfully converted a bait casting rod into a 3 piece travel rod?

This is not something I would attempt myself but if it can be done, I�m assuming a custom rod builder could do it

I have a St. Croix 7'2" Extra Heavy rod that I might want to do this with if it�s not cost prohibitive and won�t materially change the performance of the rod
