I suggest keeping regular guides. My experience is they have not give because they are mounted so close to the blank. Lots of inserts coming out.

Don't care for them to limited, I use a leader material to quickly adjust to the application... Knots don't pass through very well... Not my cupatea

I am glad to see carbon lite 2.0 get away from micros.

Hard to string up for old eyes and not sure they cast better or further.

[quote=Big Kahuna Fishing]I am not a big fan of "micro" guides. I was referencing these: [/quote That is exactly what I thought you were talking about,,,not micro guides. I have a spinning rod with a microwave guide on it and can't tell for sure if it makes a difference. I would not pay extra just because it had that guide on it. I got it because I liked the balance and flex the rod had. All the rest of the guides on the rod are regular ones, not micros.

Never been a fan of them. Seems like a marketing gimmick to me. If you want smaller eyes then just run microguides.

There is no advantage for casting rods in my opinion. I made 4 rods on the same blank using Microwave guides, micro guides, a standard set up starting with a #12 guide and a medium set up which was smaller than the standard set up but bigger than the micro guides. I then used the same reel with the same 1/2oz lure on all 4 rods. I casted each rod 8 times and marked where the lure landed. I then took away the two shortest and two longest cast. The results was that the Microwave guides did not provide any casting distance advantage.

I'll let ya know how these stupid guides work today.
Academy Sports had their H2O Ethos Nano rods on clearance today. $19.98 ea. Regular $99. So I bought a new drop shot rod (7'1" ML) and a shaky head/wacky rod (6'10" M) Both spinning. Both have that weird looking microwave guide setup.
First impression is BOTH rods are extremely tip heavy. But, balance nicely with a reel on them.
I also picked up a Quatum 11bearing 2000 size spinning reel. It is called a Energy Smoke or some [censored]. It was regularly $79 and paid $14.99 on clearance.
Cheap enough that if I don't like any of them, I can feel good about making them "boat combos" for friends to use.
I spooled them both with 20lb PowerPro Super slick 8 line and one has a 12lb InvisX leader that's 6ft long and the drop has a 6lb red label leader that's 7ft long.
I do like that the tip tops are bigger than microguide size. Makes the leader Alberto knot slide through easily.
