I am in the market for a new trolling motor. I have a Lowrance HDS Gen 3, so the logical choice is the Motor Guide Xi5. 90% of my fishing is on lake humps over big water fishing for whites and stripers. Do you have any pro/cons with the Motor Guide Xi5?

I have had an Xi5 for a year and a half and love it. Remote can be set to waypoint 9 spots and I just get close with sonar waypoint and then use it to go to exact spot over brush or hump.
Never used the foot control and if doing it over I would get the salt water model. Upgraded corrosion resistance and no foot control.
I live on lake so have a dock for my boat and installed this plate to remove the motor to trailer.
Composite is $60, metal $100.

I've had my Xi5 for about 4 months now and love it. Spot lock works great and makes fishing over a drop, hump or brushpile much more enjoyable. I have mine interfaced with my Lowrance units and the integrated features work good. The foot pedal takes a bit of getting used to but is not really needed as the remote works great. The front deck of my boat is rather small and ridding it of the old Maxxum foot pedal I used to have is a blessing.

Thanks for the input. Are you pleased with the spot lock feature?

My spot lock is awesome. Use it to lock on 9 waypoints with remote. If you are within one mile it will take you to the spot. Highest wind I have used it is about 10 mph and worked great.

I really like the feature of pushing the arrow button to move 5ft. in any direction (push 2X for 10ft. etc.). When fish move you can easily move around in increments until you find them again, this is for whites.

I upgraded from my wireless power drive to a Xi5 about 6 months ago and love it! I have used the spot lock to hold on schools in 15-20 mph winds and it works great. Jog feature is great too. I don't have it interfaced to a graph yet. I have not used the foot control, the remote works fine and I am used to it since my old motor was controlled with a remote. 24 volt handles my 19' bass boat very well.

I love mine. Its been in the shop twice though and had new boards installed. Aside from that Ive been pleased when its working. Better than my terrova. I wish it had a digital read out though like the terrova. Also its not as powerful as the terrova in the same lb range. I guess I have complaints but the nice part is the spot lock. Its dead on.

Awesome piece of equipment. Dont know how I ever fished without it. No buyers remorse for sure. Make sure you get this mount. It will keep you from messing up the XI5 at a dock or loading your boat.
