So, I'm getting ready to rig a 2500 and 3000 spinning reel with 20lb power pro braid, and use 10lb Invisx leader for mainly wacky senkos/drop shotting. I will mainly be fishing in 1-6 ft. My question is: What length leader would you recommend as far as castability, strength, etc?

Thanks in advance TFFers

I use around 20'. The knot holds good and normally if it breaks off it is close to the hook. I like having the extra on so I can retie a few to several times without having to tie the two lines together often.

I usually use around 6'. That gives me enough for a few bait changes or reties or if i break off I might have enough left to use again. I don't like adding the leaders on the water because it takes to much time for me. I tie them at home and hope they last.

This...but 7' I use the FG knot and it takes a couple of minutes to tie so want enough length to retire some.

I like my knot to be between the reel and the first guide.
Ready to shoot through the guides on the cast. If floro spools on the reel it will get a set in it and not go through the guides as well.

6-7'

If the connection knot goes into the spool, the tag ends of the line to line knot can catch on the mainline at times--frustrating.

...I got a question & it is a serious question .....
if you are going to connect 15-30ft of Flouro leader to the braid, then why do it at all ?

The fluoro is nearly invisible and the braid isn't. So you want this fish to see (or not see in this case) the fluoro.

Fluoro is not fun to run a full spool of on a spinning real. Line twist is an issue even with a swivel. Braid has no memory and isn't impacted by twisting in the same way fluoro is. So braid is superior to run on a spinning reel.

So a union of two line types give you the best of both worlds.

Question James. Someone earlier talked about the tag ends catching if they are on the spool. How do you avoid this? Aaron martens was saying on MLF the other day he was using a 20' leader as well.
