Well barndoor I'll say this. I saw the invoices and the the only submissions on there where for services that he provided.
He's an honest man and a compassionate man . I would agree the system is broken. But I do not agree it's the providers who broke it.

But I do not agree it's the providers who broke it. You just explained how a lab that you received services from plays the game and overinflate their charges to get what they feel is just and they are not part of the problem of the rising healthcare cost?? What are they going to feel is a fair payment next year? $500?

What are they going to feel is a fair payment next year? $500? Have you gone full mental? Why did the lab bill 5k? Because they knew they would only get a small percentage of what they billed. If they actually billed the $300 they would have gotten 20 bucks they can't operate providing those services at $20. So you tell me who's ripping who off. The insurance companies? Or the providers?

I am going to ignore your comment about "full mental" because you are a DB. Now back to the subject.
A provider has a choice to be in-network or not. When they agree to be an in-network provider, they agree to a negotiated fee. If you feel like the insurance company is ripping you off for your services, then don't sign a contract with them. Definitely don't commit fraud and submit frivolous charges to get what you feel is right. The reason for the $17,850 bill stated above is because they were not an in-network provider, which means they can charge whatever they feel is right. I personally think it was the woman fault for not asking questions.

When Mom was t-boned last September, she had to be taken to the hospital by air ambulance. We have insurance that is supposed to cover that. It is setup through the water companies. In fact, we have two of these policies. The bill was about $29,3xx. When we asked about the insurance we had, they said since it was a car accident, then that policy didn't apply. We wouldn't be responsible, but the auto insurance policy would be. This comes out of the medical portion, apparently. Fortunately, Mom is ok financially, BUT what is the purpose of this policy if not for just such an occasion? Now, if it hadn't been an accident, the company's website suggest that Medicare would pay about $7500 and having the insurance policy would cap it at that. So, yeah...

I agree the system is way broken.
And I'm a hundred percent sure that setting a price for a service based on your expectation to pay back from an insurance company is not fraud.
And I cannot believe that you called me a name. I'm sorry that I triggered you to become angry.

What makes No sense to me. Is I paid every dr bill before I walked out the door then they send a new bill saying I wasnt charged right. The receptionist dont know the correct charges. I laughed said what you talking about she looked in a chart and charged me maybe your wrong and the viscous circle started everyone blaming everyone else meanwhile I was the one trying to fix there bill problems. I finally told them F off. I sent them a bill for my time. Im still waiting for the check. Once those people have your ssn they hold your credit report hostage. You cant argue and be right with the actual billing office. But go in drs office and its worked out. Then they resubmitt it and they still tell you they were wrong. I also dont understand I paid cash as I walked out. Right on the spot I shouldve got same price insurance paid but no they want 100 times more.
