Hello Everyone, “Fly Fish Texas” is this Saturday at the Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, Texas. Multiple activities will be available including fishing, casting lessons, fly tying, and more! This is an invitation to join me at 3:00 pm in the Anheuser-Busch Dive Theater to talk about fly casting. The official name of the topic is “Using Video to Improve your Fly Casting”. OK, I’ll admit that this is a goofy name. But, we will be discussing different casting techniques and different casting styles. We will slow down and pause several casting videos to discuss different elements of a cast. We will also discuss what to look for when watching a YouTube-style video or a video of your own casting. I have something of interest for all skill and experience levels. I think you’ll find this topic is a lot more interesting in person than it sounds in this message. I realize many of you don’t know who I am. Well, I’m a Fly Fishers International certified casting instructor, I’m a member of TFO Rods pro staff as a casting instructor, I’ve been the Dallas Fly Fishers casting instructor for several years, and I’ve been teaching fly casting classes for over 12 years. If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll come join us. Also, “Fly Fish Texas” is a very “kid friendly” event. Thanks, Rex Walker https://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/visitorcenters/tffc/visit/specialevents/flyfishtx/

I plan on attending Saturday as well. Will be my first time going to the event and the schedule looks like it will be a full day of good stuff.

At 1:00 PM some guy will be doing a presentation called "A Year in My Life: a man, a kayak, and a fly rod"! Come take a trip or 3 with me on some beautiful stretches of the Brazos River.

Who else showed up today? Was pretty much washed out on the casting lessons and fishing. Got there about 8:30 am and they shut us down around 9:30-9:45. We stayed till about 12:00 and then called it a day. Fish in the casting pond were very active during the time we got to fish. Just to much lightening in the vicinity.
"I'd rather be fishing!"

I was there today and really enjoyed Jerry's presentation. We were only able to fish for about 20 minutes first thing before they forced everyone to come inside due to lightning, which was really disappointing since the fish were really biting. We stayed all day and saw a handful of talks. When we were leaving about 3:30 they had started letting people go outside and fish again and the fish were still biting, but at that point we had already put the rods in the car and were ready to head back.

We fished Saturday afternoon for about 30 minutes and the rain started coming down really hard so we quit. We fished Sunday and caught a trout every cast. It was amazing. Thanks for coming to my presentation. Sorry the computer quit before the end.

I'm late posting this, but I want to thank everyone that hung around on a rainy day and came to my presentation.

Well darn, I'm a week late! I thought it was this weekend. I was looking forward to your presentation Rex. Maybe I can make it over to Dallas for a meeting.
