I have wanted to shoot a video for while now that was more focused on the camping aspect of trout fishing. It didn't turn out exactly like i had envisioned in my mind before i shot it but once i started editing it, it sort of took on a life of its own (probably because of how the music directed it). I really like how it turned out - just not how i THOUGHT it was going turn out.

A good friend of mine, Ryan Eskinozi, met me at camp to help me celebrate my birthday and ended up being a central figure in the video (as it should be) as well as helping me shoot the thing. We had a great time, probably spent to much time hanging around camp instead of fishing. But, like the video, it ended up not how i envisioned but took on a life of its own. We still caught plenty of fish, smoked cigars, drank whiskey, poked the fire and laughed a lot.

Great video Mac and I loved hearing the fly rod story at the end. What an awesome way to spend a birthday.

It started drizzling rain at sundown and was chilly. We had been drinking whiskey since we got back in camp to stay warm. During dinner i told my Ryan we needed to come uo with an ending for the video. After a couple of more drinks i came up with the idea tell simply tell a fish story with the camera rolling. By then it was nearlly 11:00, raining, cold and i didnt really feel like doing it. Just wanted to crawl into my sleeping bag and doze off. But, i knew i would be mad at myself if i didnt at least try it so i told Ryan we would shoot one take - good or bad - and go with it. All things considered, i thought it was pretty good.

Great video and story. Brought back memories of fishing the Blue before we moved from Texas to Colorado. I'm in fly fishing heaven here but had some great times on the Blue.

Again ...great video ...except maybe the part where you ruined the good whiskey with the pepsi grin
