Main lake is loaded with huge schools of stripers and sandbass. The river is still producing as well. Lake Granbury is another option. Weather forecast has folks cancelling. Low winds and some rain on saturday could be great.... Give me a call if your interested. Here is a 32inch striper caught on the main lake.

Are white bass on structure or river channel edges?

Both places. On the main lake look for the loons . They don't spook as easy as the cormorants and they are almost always near fish!!

Solid report Michael. BTW where is a good launch near the northern end of Whitney, not the river. Thanking you in advance for your help.

Juniper Cove is on the north end (Cedar Creek). Steele Creek is another further upstream. If you can get in white Bluff (have to know someone there), they have a great launch. I typically launch at Mccown Valley when I fish the main lake. Mccown is next to the Katy bridge which is somewhat center of the lake. Hope that helps.
