Yes, always fly with ear plugs in your pocket, and dark sunglasses on your head.

They both help.

Years ago, I was in the check out line at a grocery store. Mom in line at a register over with 3 kids in tow, one of which was going ballistic on the floor whinning about something. I guess the man behind her got fed up. He through himself down on the floor and begin to mimic the kids tantrum. That lil kid immediately shut up, like nothing ever happened.

In the case above, I would have probably done the same thing, or simply found every blanket and pillow available and stuffed that kind in a overhead bin. Then make a Captains request to open the bar.

I can't post it due to language but Bill Hicks has a bit called "kids on a plane" that addresses this very subject. Pretty good stuff.

Oh, for the days long gone by.

One of my cousins was being an absolute monster in the grocery store. My aunt calmly walked up to the nearest long tall gentleman and asked if she could borrow his belt for five minutes. Just needed to teach her son a real quick lesson about how to behave in public.

Maybe it's just me, but I remember when authorized adults could jerk a knot in your tail, then tell your parents and your mom would get you and then your dad would get you. I guess it's a good thing I can't have kids because there wouldn't be any skin left between ears and knees with that nonsense.

At a restaurant we were at in Plano a 5-6 year old boy started this and it was an ongoing consistent screaming. What was weird is the parents did nothing. They could have easily taken him out. People were getting up and leaving, screaming at the kids parents, and otherwise showing displeasure. The restaurant made no attempt to intervene, which I suppose would be a liability issue. We lucked out are were quickly transferred to a separate bar area. The restaurant comped our meal and drinks which I suppose they did for everyone that didnt walk out. It was surreal. If I ever go on long flight again I will have noise cancelling headphones.

If I would have made it past the first hour, mom and/or dad and I would have had a face-to-face, heart-to-heart talk. Not my child and not my problem, but their lack of parenting would have made it my problem.

I believe I would have convinced the parents that two or three good sips of bourbon down his gullet would probably be best for everyone.....no way I would sit there for 8 hours and do nothing
