Anyone used the new Motorguide Xi3 yet? I'm wondering how good the spotlock feature works. I'm sure it won't compare to the Ultrex, but the Ultrex is a bit out of my price range and at $900 less the Xi3 looks like an option.

From what I've seen there is no foot pedal Yeah, I saw that. Comes with just a wireless remote. I think (hope) I could adjust and get used to it.

I've never used one but there are plenty of people in here that will come along later and from what I have heard has all been positive. I use MK's version of the electric steer and I'll tell you that probably 90% of the people who use it do not use the foot pedal. If I'm not mistaken they have a wireless fot pedal that you can add to it for around $100.
Also you might want to look at remanufactured trolling motors. They come with a warranty, in MK's case 1 yr rather than 2 but are heavily discounted. I just bought one and it won't be long before the Ultrex starts having them come out.

I've had a Xi5 for about a year and a half, if the 3 is as good as the 5 you've got nothing to worry about. And as far as the foot control goes I never once used mine. I always used the remote. It's not hard to get used to it and will give you a lot more fishing time!

I was told that sales have been real bad and will be discontinued soon. They were trying to offer a cheaper Xi5 and people are just getting the Xi5.
I never use the foot pedal either but definitely like having the LiftSaver under it to protect my investment.

To me it would be hard to use the remote and not the foot but Iam shocked that MG has not come out with something to match the Ultrex.

It has changed the way I fish. Having said that, still wish I would've waited and bought an Ultrex. My uncle bought one that I installed on his boat and got to use for a weekend. That thing is SWEET!
